The next day at the newspaper office he drew a bun with a dachshund in it not a dachshund sausage,<\/p>\n
but a real dachshund.<\/p>\n
He didn’t know the spelling of “dachshund”.<\/p>\n
So under the cartoon he wrote “Get your hot dogs!”<\/p>\n
The cartoon was a sensation, and “hot dog” became the new name.<\/p>\n
